"ABC Signup saved us more time than our previous software. It’s so easy to access the information and provide it to people who want it. I love that it’s so automated that we don’t have to worry about many steps. It does our thinking for us."

KENT STATE UNIVERSITY
An easier signup process becomes the BMOC
With more th
an 41,000 students enrolled at its eight campuses, Kent State University is the second largest university in Ohio. It has more than 4,000 faculty and staff. The Education & Training arm of Kent’s Human Resources Division keeps employees current via a variety of classes, such as tips on using specific software programs, how to improve supervisory skills, and orientations for new employees.
The hours add up
When HR Education & Training implemented ABC Signup in 2005, the time savings were nearly immediate. ”On one event alone, we shaved off about 12 to 14 hours of administrative support time over the course of about three months,” said Training & Development Manager Robert Hall. “That is not unusual, and I would say there are at least a dozen events that were comparable.” Add in the hundreds of smaller training classes managed online, and Hall says the HR department easily saves hundreds of hours annually.
The move to online registration becomes a stampede
When Kent State chose ABC Signup, it was for HR events only. However, other university departments soon heard about the new online registration program and wanted to take advantage of it. Kent now handles about 10,000 registrations a year via ABC Signup – five times its initial projection. “I’m still getting calls,” said Hall. “I train people every other week (on how to use ABC Signup). People want some solution to easily manage the whole process, print reports, surveys, etc.”
