2011: Tough Act to Follow In business, one always hopes that the transition to a new year raises the question, “What do we do to top that?”
For ABC Signup in 2012, that means trying to outperform a year (2011) in which the company achieved a number of milestones, from adding many new features and improving software functionality (detailed here) to exceeding the “100,000 events” and “one million registrations” marks earlier in the year. We delivered timely and effective customer support, we doubled the number of newsletter subscribers and we were one of five finalists (out of hundreds of applicants) for the 2011 Inc.credible small business award. Most important of all, we achieved a company-record 95% customer retention rate.
So, what do we plan to do for an encore in 2012?

New User Training Scheduled for January 24 ABC Signup’s next New User Training for those new to ABC or in need of a refresher is set for Tuesday, January 24, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. online via GoToMeeting. We will cover the basics of the system – from administrative setup to creating events/listings/forms to reporting options – and assist with your questions. Register here. The registration fee is $75, and there is no additional charge for multiple people sitting in on the same conference call viewing the same computer session.
Search by Location in the Administrative Event Listing For customers whose events span multiple locations, we’ve added functionality to help you quickly navigate from one location to another. If you have Locations set up in your account and have assigned them to an event, they will now appear on the internal Event Listing (just click on Events, and see the third column from left). Locations are sortable and searchable, so now you can quickly pull up information on all of the events you are hosting in, say, Miami Beach, FL.
Clean Up a Recurring Error With ‘Search and Replace’ You just created 100 events and realize the description for each one has a misspelling? It’s going to be a long night…unless you use ABC Signup’s “search and replace” feature (Setup > Advanced tab > Event Maintenance). You can globally replace any word or phrase on any page that was created with the text editor.
Choose the data type, such as event page or confirmation emails. Then globally change all instances where the word or phrase appears within the data type. If you want to remove a section of text entirely, type in "Blank" in the "New Text" field.
When you’re finished, you can still tell everyone you stayed at work all night to make the changes, saying that’s the kind of team player you are.
Paint Fumes or Personality?
ABC Signup’s office space recently benefited from a not-so-extreme makeover involving several coats of paint, re-hung artwork and rearranged furniture. It looks nothing like the photo at right. Those with north-facing offices chose from a palette of colors to refresh the beige walls. Your challenge – yes, there will be a prize awarded, and no, it won’t be leftover paint – is to match the color(s) chosen with the correct ABC Signup departmental office.
