Kent State University
An easier signup process becomes the BMOC
With more than 41,000 students enrolled at its eight campuses, Kent State University is the second largest university in Ohio. It has nearly 10,000 faculty and staff. The Education & Training arm of Kent State’s Human Resources Division keeps employees current via a variety of classes, such as tips on using specific software programs, how to improve supervisory skills, and orientations for new employees.
The hours add up
When HR Education & Training implemented ABC Signup, the time savings were nearly immediate. The program previously had not implemented online registration. After doing so, the training staff cut 12 to 14 hours of administrative support time on just one event over the course of about three months. Registration for several other events and programs yielded comparable time savings. All told, training coordinators were able to cut hundreds of hours in administrative time in just the first year of implementing ABC Signup.
The move to online registration becomes a stampede
When Kent State chose ABC Signup, it was for HR use only. However, other university departments soon heard about the new online registration program and wanted to take advantage of it. Kent State now handles about 23,000 registrations a year via ABC Signup—more than ten times its initial projection.
