About the Presenter:
  Joan Sedita, M.Ed.

Keys To Literacy (www.keystoliteracy.net) specializes in grades 4-12 literacy and provides:

· School-wide literacy planning

· Professional development for teaching comprehension strategies, vocabulary, and organization skills embedded in content classroom instruction

Joan Sedita is the founding partner of Keys To Literacy and has 33 years experience with literacy instruction. She is a nationally recognized speaker and teacher trainer. Joan received her M.Ed. in Reading from Harvard University and her B.A. from Boston College.

Joan is a member of the Praxis National Reading Advisory Committee, a consultant to the MA Dept. of Ed Secondary Reading Initiative, a National LETRS Trainer, and was a lead trainer for Reading First in MA. Joan worked at the Landmark School from 1975 to 1998 as a teacher, language arts head, and Principal. She was also the founder and director of the Landmark College Preparation Program and the Outreach Teacher Training Program. She has consulted with and trained teachers at over 100 schools across the country.

Joan has authored numerous books and articles, including Landmark Study Skills Guide, “LETRS: Writing – A Road to Reading Comprehension”, and The Key Three Routine – Comprehension Strategies.
