Our children's choir program is open to all children in 1st through 6th grades. We currently have close to 200 children involved in our 4 choirs. The choirs sing occasionally in morning and evening services, and seasonally in Advent/Christmas programs and with a season-closing concert or musical. The Children's Choir program includes musicianship, hymn memorization, and instruction in worship. Choirs meet each Sunday night from 6-7:15 p.m., during the Sunday evening service.
The Cherub Choir is our 1st grade boys and girls. Their involvement in services is limited so that emphasis can be made on basic music and vocal skills. This choir enjoys lots of movement and interacts with materials such as bean bags, scarves and percussion instruments.
The Hosanna Choir is for girls in 2nd and 3rd grades and our 2nd grade boys. (Our 3rd grade boys are invited this year to join the Boys Choir.) They fully participate in worship services and concerts but still have weekly opportunity to learn through movement and games.
The Alleluia Choir is open to all 4th-6th grade girls. They enjoy spending time with one another while working hard to grow in music reading abilities and perfecting a unified tone.
As the name implies, the Boys Choir is made up of our oldest boys, the 3rd-6th graders. With an all male staff, they enjoy lots of extra "boys stuff", like attending sporting events and playing in the gym after a great night of rehearsing.
Fees: $5.00 registration fee (to cover costs of prizes and pizza/movie nights)
$9.00 choir t-shirt, different for each choir. (Gently used t-shirts are $4.00 as available)
T-shirts are worn on t-shirt/treat night and at some Sunday evening performances. Robes are worn in the morning worship services and for formal concerts. The robes are provided.
The choir season begins on September 13, 2009, 6:00--7:15 p.m. in various rooms of the church.
Registration is open ended but the t-shirt order is placed on September 28.
If your child is not sure about joining choir yet, bring them to choir and hold off registering.
