Leaders: Byron Rushing, Massachusetts State Representative, Boston, Massachusetts
Byron Rushing's long service in State Government, as Representative from Massachusetts, and in the Episcopal Church, as an outspoken advocate for human rights, civil rights, peace and justice, will inform the speaker's address. Rushing is uniquely qualified to move comfortably back and forth on the secular-sacred continuum. He will focus on anti-racism strategies in both church and state, and the conference may be expected to address some of the more controversial issues around racism in society such as affirmative action, educational testing, access to employment in such key public service professions as the police and public health. Sponsored by the Anti-Racism Commission.
