Registration is not required for this event. Opening Day activities will be held at Lincoln-Way East High School located at 201 Colorado Ave., Frankfort, IL. This activity is required for all District #843 staff. It consists of a review of information mandated by law, as well as a review of general procedures.

This training provides an overview of the basic principles of Verbal Behavior, including effective teaching procedures and behavioral strategies for children with Autism in our AIM and STEP programs. The morning session will be for all teachers and aides focusing on the actual teaching procedures and data keeping. In the afternoon, teachers will need to bring their IEPs for a “hands on” workshop where we will actually help you set up drills for your VB Program.

This workshop is for Speech Pathologists and teacher teams who work with children who have limited expressive language. Participants will learn how to create and customize a wide range of multi-level communication books. PODD can be used as a back-up system for children who have communication devices and for children who have used PECS but need the next step to communicate. Lunch will be provided.

Are you currently using Social Stories? Are they effective? If not, this course is for you. Are you new to the concept of using Social Stories? If so, this course is for you. This course will review the components of a good social story, as well as what to avoid when writing a social story. Bring situations or ideas, as part of the workshop will be actively writing, sharing, and reviewing Social Stories. We will also be reviewing various ways to use technology within a social story.
